The Patients Association has warned that proposed changes to the criteria for funding for NHS drugs could mean that elderly people lose out. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence is likely to be asked to consider “wider societal benefits” as well as the efficiency and price of the medicines. The Patients Association say this may result in older people not getting treatment because of their age.
