Lib Dems pledge to expand free schools meals policy to all primary school pupils

The Independent has reported that the Liberal Democrats plan to include a pledge to roll out free school meals to all primary school children as part of the party’s election manifesto. The scheme is currently only available to five- to seven-year-olds, and Schools Minister David Laws has confirmed that the party would look to extend the scheme by September 2019.

The policy was first announced by Deputy Prime Minister, and Liberal Democrat leader, Nick Clegg at last autumn’s party conference.
